How much do Facebook and Instagram ads cost in Dubai? The honest answer is that there is no price list. Meta sells ad space in a live auction, so the cost of a click, a lead or a sale depends on who you target, when you run, and how good the ad is. This guide explains how the price is set, what recent UAE benchmarks show, what pushes costs up or down, and how to work out a realistic budget in dirhams for your own business.
How Meta decides what you pay
Every time there is space for an ad in someone's Facebook or Instagram feed, Meta runs an auction between the advertisers who want to reach that person. The winner is not simply the highest bidder. Meta weighs three things: the bid, how likely the person is to take the action you want, and the quality of the ad. A relevant, well-made ad can win the same placement for less money than a weaker one.
You don't set the price of a click. You set a budget and an objective, and Meta spends the budget trying to get you the most results it can. The cost you see is what came out of those auctions. Three numbers describe it:
- CPM: the cost of a thousand impressions, which reflects how competitive your audience is.
- CPC: the cost of each click, which also reflects how well the ad earns attention.
- CPA: the cost of each result, such as a purchase or a lead, which is the number that matters most for your business.
What recent UAE benchmarks show
Public benchmarks give a sense of scale, as long as you read them carefully. One of the more detailed is published by Superads, built from anonymized data across thousands of ad accounts. Over its most recent twelve months, it put the typical Facebook cost per click in the UAE at roughly one dollar, close to the global level, but with much bigger swings: from around 50 cents in a quiet month to more than 1.60 at the busiest.
The same data put the typical cost per purchase in the UAE at around 77 dollars across the year, roughly half as much again as the global figure. It also moved sharply with the season, from under 20 dollars in a quiet spring month to more than 170 in December.
Treat these figures as a rough sense of scale, not a quote. The publisher describes them as directional, and your own costs will depend far more on your industry, offer, audience and creative than on any average.
Why costs swing so much in Dubai
Dubai is a competitive ad market: a high-spending audience, and many businesses trying to reach it in the same feeds. When more advertisers compete for the same people, the auction gets more expensive. That competition is not constant through the year.
- Year-end: November and December bring the heaviest competition, with UAE National Day on 2 December and the Dubai Shopping Festival from mid-December into January.
- Ramadan and Eid: daily routines and buying patterns change, and costs can rise as advertisers compete for attention.
- Quieter periods: the benchmark above shows costs falling through spring, which can be a cheaper time to test new campaigns.
Plan for the season you are launching in. The same campaign can cost very different amounts in May and in December.
What makes your costs go up or down
Within any season, the biggest levers are in your own hands.
- Audience: very narrow audiences are expensive to reach and run out quickly; very broad ones waste money. Aim for an audience that matches your buyer and is big enough for Meta to learn.
- Objective: awareness campaigns usually buy impressions cheaply but produce fewer actions, while sales campaigns cost more per result because they aim at people likely to buy.
- Creative: fresh, relevant ads win auctions for less. When the same audience has seen an ad too often, costs rise and results fall.
- Placement and format: stories, reels and feeds are priced differently. Make creative for each one, such as 9:16 for stories and reels and 4:5 or 1:1 for the feed, rather than one image cropped to fit.
- Landing page: if the page is slow or doesn't match the ad, clicks don't convert, and your cost per result climbs even when the clicks are cheap.
- Language: in a bilingual market, an ad written in the language the audience reads performs better than a translation.
Facebook or Instagram: which costs more?
Both are sold through the same auction in Meta Ads Manager, and one campaign can run on both. Instagram placements often cost more per thousand impressions than Facebook, but for visual products they can also convert better, so the cheaper impression is not always the cheaper result. Compare the two on cost per result, not on CPM. If you are unsure, let Meta place the ads across both and see where your results actually come from.
The 5% VAT, and billing in dirhams
Two practical points catch many UAE advertisers out.
- VAT: Meta adds 5% UAE VAT to ad charges unless you have added a valid tax registration number (TRN) to your ad account's settings. If your business is VAT-registered, add the TRN; if not, include the 5% in your budget.
- Currency: choose AED when you create the ad account, so your budget, your plan and your invoices all use the same currency. An ad account's currency is hard to change later.
How to set a budget in dirhams
Work back from the result you need rather than starting with a round number.
- Start with your break-even cost per result. If an average order is AED 400 and your margin is 30%, you make AED 120 per sale before ad costs, so a cost per purchase under AED 120 is profitable on the first order.
- Estimate a monthly budget. If you want 20 sales a month and expect a cost per sale of around AED 100, plan for about AED 2,000 a month, or roughly AED 65 a day, plus VAT if it applies.
- Give it time. Run a test for at least two weeks before judging it, so Meta has enough results to learn from. A budget that produces only one or two results a week leaves the system guessing.
These figures are illustrative. Use your own order value and margin, and replace the estimated cost per sale with your real figure as soon as you have one.
How to lower your cost per result
- Test three to five clearly different ad angles, not small rewordings, and keep the winners.
- Refresh creative before it fatigues, usually when the click-through rate starts to fall.
- Make sure the landing page matches the ad's offer and language, and loads quickly on a phone.
- Run English and Arabic versions where your audience reads both.
- Prepare peak-season campaigns early, or test in quieter months when the auction is cheaper.
- Judge on cost per result, and change one thing at a time so you know what worked.
How markXpand helps
markXpand starts from one daily budget in AED and splits it across the channels worth paying for, with Meta alongside Google, TikTok and the others where they fit. It writes copy in English or Arabic, makes creative for each placement, launches into your own ad accounts after one approval, and brings every channel's spend, clicks, conversions and cost per result back onto one set of numbers, so you can see what you are really paying for each result. Your first three campaigns are free, with no credit card.
